With the sun baking us all to crisp it was always going to be a hard weekend of racing. However Dan Meilink’s new fox racing kit must have had some sort of cooling system in it as he took out the senior men’s field with a time which was also 9th fastest on the day. Once the points were all done Dan went home with 2nd place overall in the NI series and the NZ Cup behind Richard Leacock.
Josh McCombie and Connor Hamilton continued their battle in U15 but this time Connor took the 1st place with Josh coming in 2nd. This meant that Connor is the U15 NI Champ but Josh takes the title for NZ Cup. Remember these names in the future as kids are super quick!
Our u17 rider Louis Hamilton looked in fine form and as he took 1st place in his seeding run by 3 sec’s over Jay Barrett. But Jay drunk 4 liters of water at lunch time and came back to win by under a second in his race run. Louis takes 2nd place NI cup and I sure he’ll be looking to take one back from Jay this coming weekend at the nationals. By the way these guys’ times were fast enough to take 10th and 12th overall on the day.
Matt Walker is MR consistent this year with another 8th place in Pro Men. Overall in the NI series Matt finished up in 5th place and 6th in NZ. Pretty great start his Pro career! One has a feeling that Matt is only a race away from winning one soon.
